Silk Road Boutique Hotel in Irkutsk is the result of the joint work of an interdisciplinary team, which includes architects, artists and specialized consultants from Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, Kemerovo and London. The project developed as a complex task, where it was important not only to create a visually expressive space, but also to build a sustainable guest service model.
Each team member was responsible for their own area of expertise, which allowed us to create a hotel with thoughtful logic, functional solutions and a complete concept.
From an idea to a proven concept
At the initial stage, the project considered the synthesis of cultures of the West and the East. However, in the process of work, it became obvious that the theme of travel would become a more precise and universal meaning. This approach made it possible to avoid direct stylizations and create a modern space understandable to guests with different cultural experiences.
As a result, the concept was rethought and built around the idea of a path, movement and conscious stopping — as an important element of any journey.
The role of art in image formation
Modern art has formed a significant part of the visual and semantic identity of the hotel. The central symbol of the project was the art object "Traveler" by artist Igor Shirshkov. This image is not tied to a specific geography or time. It exists in motion, moving from one cultural space to another.
The "traveler" interprets the journey as an internal process — choosing a direction, pausing, continuing the path. His presence in the hotel sets an emotional vector and enhances the sense of the semantic depth of the space.
